Instructions for Authors

Manuscript Submission

  • Authors should submit their manuscript using an online form.
  • Before submission, authors must ensure that the manuscript:
  1. is within the scope and aims of the journal;
  2. conforms to the publication ethics expected of authors;
  3. has been prepared in accordance with the style and referencing guidelines below.

Manuscript Language

  • The journal mainly publishes papers in Hungarian, but contributions in English (British), German and Italian are also welcome.
  • Papers written in a language for which the author is not a native speaker must be proofread by a competent proofreader before being submitted to the journal.

Manuscript Length

  • Research Article: 30 000 – 40 000 characters (including spaces)
  • Workshop Note: 20 000 – 30 000 characters (including spaces)
  • Source: 15 000 – 30 000 characters (including spaces)
  • Review: 5 000 – 15 000 characters (including spaces)

Manuscript Structure

Research Article & Workshop Note

  • Manuscript title in Hungarian and English
  • Author Name, Affiliation (Institute, City, Country) in Hungarian and English, Email Address
  • Abstract in English: max. 1 000 characters (including spaces)
  • Keywords in English: min. 3 – max. 8 words or short phrases
  • Main Document in Hungarian/English/German/Italian with Footnotes (no Endnotes)
  • Bibliography

Source

  • Author (if known) and Title of the Source Document in Hungarian and English
  • Personal Information about the Provider of the Source Document: Name, Affiliation (Institute, City, Land), Email Address
  • Abstract in English: max. 1 000 characters (including spaces)
  • Keywords in English: min. 3 – max. 8 words or short phrases
  • Introduction to the Source Document
  • Archive Location of the Source Document
  • Exact text of Source Document, with any critical comments in the footnote

Book Review

  • Details of the Presented Publication: Author(s)/Editor(s), Title, Publisher, Place and Year of the Publication, ISBN, Page Numbers
  • Personal Information about the Reviewer: Name, Affiliation (Institute, City, Land), Email Address
  • Text of the Review

Manuscript Formatting

  • File Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Word format (.doc or .docx); if the manuscript contains non-Latin scripts, the document should also be attached in .pdf format
  • Page Setup: A4; 2,50 cm margins
  • Line spacing: 1,5 pt
  • Indent each paragraph by 0.50 cm
  • Font:
  • Latin scripts: Times New Roman
  • Non Latin scripts  (e.g. Hebrew and Greek): Unicode-friendly fonts such as the SBL fonts or transliteration in italics
  • Font style and size:
  • Titel: Regular, Centred, 18 pt
  • Author Name: Regular, Small Caps, Centred, 14 pt
  • Author Affiliation and Email Address: Regular, Centred, 10 pt
  • Abstract and Keywords: Italic, Justified, 11 pt
  • Headings:
  • 1. First Level Heading: Regular, Centred, 16 pt
  • 1.1. Second Level Heading: Regular, Centred, 14 pt
  • 1.1.1. Third Level Heading: Italic, Left, 12 pt
  • Body Text: Regular, Justified, 12 pt
  • Footnotes: Regular, 10 pt

  • Quotations:
  • Double quotation marks are used first and single quotations marks are used second for a citation within a citation.
  • Short quotations should appear continuously within the body text; Lengthy quotations (over 40 words) should be displayed in separate paragraphs.

Referencing Style

Footnotes

  • In the body of the manuscript, footnote numbers follow the quotation or term to which they refer; footnote numbers should be placed after a punctuation mark (e.g. comma or period) without spaces.
  • Footnotes should contain only the most important information about the cited or referenced work: author's or editor's last name (in small capitals); title (in regular font); page number(s).

Bibliography

  • The bibliography contains a complete list of works cited or referenced in the manuscript, with all relevant bibliographical data according to the following guidelines.
