Abstract

In the present article, Written Memories and Visual Imagery in Sacred Space, an attempt is made to present the emblematic figure of Áron Márton with the help of local publications issued in Turda, as well as portrait materials and photographic sources related to him. The local historical presentation constitutes one segment of the materials made public between the two World Wars, with regard to local visual material and written media. The study focuses on the bishop’s visitation and seeks to emphasize the significance and impact of such a visitation on regional living conditions. Regional and local news sources attest to the importance of the bishop’s visitation of 1939. They highlight the identity-strengthening role of the recently consecrated bishop, Áron Márton.
